St Mary’s is part of the Aled Mission Area, made up of 17 churches within the Diocese of St Asaph. The Mission Area has a Leader and two wardens. Our church has twp sub-wardens:

They organise the day to day management of the church, cleaning rotas and preparation for services.

FUTURE PLANS:

Following the completion of a Heritage Lottery funded project to restore the roof and west wall in 2018 St Mary’s now has big plans for the future. The aim is that the church should become a building that can be used not just for its primary purpose – worship – but also for events that would involve the whole community. Architects drawings are prepared and permission has been given to install an accessible toilet, a small kitchen and a social space that will allow the church to host a wide variety of events that have not been possible before. Also access to the churchyard will be greatly improved by a wheelchair friendly path and the installation of steps up a steep grassy bank. Currently the Church Restoration and Development Steering group is working hard to raise enough funding for this and are very grateful to the village community for supporting this.

A small Focus Group comprised of members of the community has been formed to explore and foster links with all the other voluntary organisations in the village. Staff and pupils at Ysgol Talhaiarn have already contributed ideas as to how they might use the church and they will be closely involved in any decision making.

THE FUTURE:

Current restrictions that have been in place since March 2020 have meant that it has not been possible to offer the events to the community that we would wish.

As soon as the restrictions are lifted plans will be made to ensure that the church is open to everyone whenever they should wish to visit.
